Trend
New ideas are always coming into fashion. Some trends have more staying power than others. As a wedding planner in Dallas, I see many trends come and go in a season, while others become part of the collective picture of what a beautiful wedding should look like.

An interesting trend that is becoming more common is wedding logos used on invitations, cakes, napkins, and even monogrammed party favors. Usually an interesting combination of the initials of the bride and groom, but other symbols can be used. Using a wedding logo can help create a unifying element that brings the separate elements together.
Hot color
Each year seems to bring a new set of popular wedding colors. Sometimes a lack of color becomes a trend, such as a black bridesmaid dress with a single color in flowers or other minor elements. This option creates an elegant black-and-white theme for the entire wedding reception. Since not all colors look great on everyone, sometimes saving a bold color for your reception decor is an excellent choice.
Donate
Some couples choose to share their celebration of a union by helping others. This is especially true for couples who marry later in life because they already have an established family life. Instead of buying another toaster, they don’t need, some couples choose well-wishers to donate to a special group or organization the newlyweds care about. It might be a medical foundation that focuses on something a loved one or friend is working on, or it might be a volunteer organization where the happy couple meets or works together.

Another element that can be “something new” at a wedding is a signature drink. A twist on a classic drink like an Apple Martini or a Cranberry Cosmopolitan can help set a certain mood or setting for the evening’s celebration. Sometimes it is the type of wine or other drink that characterizes it. There are many vineyards and vineyards that specialize in specially labeled wines.
Lightning
One of the most exciting new trends in weddings is the use of accent lighting. A simple wedding reception can be made very dramatic with special lighting, or a large, impersonal hall can be made more intimate and comfortable. Most reception facilities can accommodate complex lighting and can even offer advice on what works best in their space. This is where a wedding logo projected onto the dance floor or bright colors splashed with light around the reception area can create a truly unique space for the happy couple. It’s also a good idea to use light to draw guests’ attention to other distinctive elements of the wedding, such as cake accents, buffets, or large flower arrangements.
Summary
Finding the right balance based on your partner’s personal style and taste is sometimes more of a challenge than you might think. Seeing the joy and happiness of the bride and groom as we find the perfect combination of signature elements makes this challenge well worth the time and effort. Not all trends are suitable for every wedding, but some, when combined properly, can make your wedding unique and memorable for years to come.
